Motorcycle Tire Size Tubeless

Actually there is nothing different in choosing a tubeless tire size and tube type tires (tires are still wearing inner tube.) but who need to do is adjust the size of the tire with the rim size is used. Do not let a worn rim let alone greatness insignificance when compared with the size of the tire. The combination of tire and rim that is not appropriate result rounded tire / donut or even a surface so the box.

If the tire size is too large exceeds the recommendations rims, tires tend to be rounded and taper. The effect is due to tire rounded surface of the tire in contact with the asphalt as the road to be reduced either straight or cornering.
If the tire size is smaller than the width of the wheel. Tires will be broad and visible boxes. Ban the box causes the surface of the tire is attached to the asphalt is too much when walking straight. But when asked cornering tire surface attached to the asphalt to be very minimal.
We recommend that you go up and down tire tread width should not exceed 1 degree.Suppose the front wheels 1.60 inch X17 with 70/90-17 tires can be replaced with the standard tire size 80/90-17 or 1.85 X17-inch rear wheel with standard tires can be replaced with a tire 80/90-17 90/90-17. More than that should be followed by the replacement rim.
The following guidelines rim size and tire combination :

Tire Size                           Rim Size
2.00-17 ; 50/90-17       =  1.20 X 17"
2.25-17 ; 60/90-17       =  1.20 X 17"
2.25-17 ; 60/90-17       =  1.40 X 17"
2.50-17 ; 70/80-17       =  1.20 X 17"
2.50-17 ; 70/80-17       =  1.40 X 17"
2.50-17 ; 70/80-17       =  1.60 X 17"
2.75-17 ; 80/90-17       =  1.40 X 17"
2.75-17 ; 80/90-17       =  1.60 X 17"
2.75-17 ; 80/90-17       =  1.85 X 17"
3.00-17 ; 90/80-17       =  1.60 X 17"
3.00-17 ; 90/80-17       =  1.85 X 17"
3.00-17 ; 90/80-17       =  2.15 X 17"
3.50-17 ; 100/80-17     =  1.85 X 17"
3.50-17 ; 100/80-17     =  2.15 X 17"
3.50-17 ; 100/80-17     =  2.50 X 17"
4.00-17 ; 110/80-17     =  2.15 X 17"
4.00-17 ; 110/80-17     =  2.50 X 17"
120/70-17                     =  2.50 X 17"

  1. Right now, my front wheel is with inner tube with the size written on the exterior tire of 2.50-17 and the rear is 2.75-17. I need to change the front with TUBELESS with the size of 2.75-17 and the rear I need to change with TUBELESS also with the size of 3.00-17. I don't know which one is the equivalent of the sizes in your list. For example: Under 3.00-17, it has two of them. One is, 1.85x17" and one is 2.15x17". I don't know which one is which. Please explain it clearer. Thanks.

  2. Thank you Dave has been visiting this blog, sorry too late, actually change the tire size it is okay, but most of all we need to consider also the factors of safety and comfort, for it should we remain guided / rules that have been defined, between Another example in the case of tire tread width should be increased or decreased by not more than 1 level changes from a predetermined standard.
Need to know before changing the tire rim size which is what we use, for front and rear tires. For example I use a rim size eg 1.85 x 17 "with the previous tires 2.75-17; 80/90-17 then I want to replace a 3.00-17, 90/80-17, using the guidelines above, this change is fine and safe, but if we are forced to use rim 1.85 x 17 "to tire 4.00-17; 110/80-17 or 120/70-17 is clearly unsuitable and dangerous, because it is not in accordance with the guidelines and rules. Solution if we still want to use the tire size 4.00-17; 110/80-17 replace the rim with size 2.15 x 17", while the tire size 120/70-17 replace the rim with size 2.50 size x 17".
To Dave, I do not know the rim size that you use both front and rear, so to change the tire that you do, I can not give an opinion.
    Regarding the list above written:
    3.00-17; 90/80-17 = 1.85 x 17 "
    3.00-17; 90/80-17 = 2:15 x 17 "
meant tire size 3.00-17, 90/80-17 can be used to rim the size of 1.85 x 17" or 2.15 x 17". Thanks.

  3. Motorcycle tires, like motorcycles themselves, come in many types and sizes. There are different types of tires for front wheels, back wheels, off road, street and racing motorcycles. Choosing the correct size of motorcycle tire is essential because using the wrong size can potentially be deadly. Motorcycle tires are measured using either the English or metric systems, although metric is usually used.

  4. Tubeless tires need simply be placed correctly on the rim and quickly inflated to form the bond between the rim and the tire. There is little risk of puncture during installation, though seating the tire correctly can be somewhat difficult.
